With everything that happens in life and at home, it is pretty common for one to realize all the home improvement projects that they are putting off.

Things like leaky pipes, peeled paint, dirty gutters and the like all seem to be noticed in one go and suitable and conveniently forgotten just as quickly.

It can be disheartening to leave these problems unattended but all we can make do is what the budget permits.

What we advise is that if you do have the budget, you start out with your bathroom as this is the only room in the house where noise, mess, and disturbance are intentionally not welcome.

It doesn’t take much to get your bathroom sparkling and taking the time to work on that shower cabin can really have profound effects on the rest of the household.

As it is a place for peace and relaxation, sprucing it up can clear the mind even better and allow us to enjoy serene moments inside. If you are up to the task of working on the bathroom, the following tips will surely help you out.

Empty the bathroom

The best place to start is removing movable fixtures. This includes bathroom scales, toothbrush holders, laundry bins, and any other accessories that you can remove.

Likewise, towels and mats should be thrown in the laundry and any toilet rolls, soap, and liquid bottles should be taken out. This will leave you with an almost empty bathroom to work with.

As soon as the bathroom is back to its bare-bones structure, you can begin your deep cleaning.

Where to start

It would be best to start off by spraying the entire bathroom suite with your preferred cleaning solution. By allowing the entire room to soak, it becomes easier to deal with any stubborn stains.

The same also holds true for the toilet. Pop in a little bleach on its rim and let it soak. Afterward, throw in your toilet brush as well. This will help clean the brush end which is commonly neglected.

Finally, be sure to procure some drain unblocking solution and pour it down your plug holes so as to help improve the drain flow.

This will ensure that any bacteria going down the drain goes down smoothly and in good time.

Work diligently on the glass

While you are soaking most parts of your bathroom suite, take the time to polish the glass areas of your bathroom. This includes mirrors, mirrored cabinets, and shower panels.

All these are susceptible to growing grimy, especially after continued use. Likewise, the glass on the windows shouldn’t be neglected too. Bathrooms need to be pretty ventilated for them to avoid molds.

If that isn’t the case in your bathroom, the windows are sure to need some attention. Ensuring that the windows are clean helps aid natural light in propagating in the bathroom.

Start on the bathroom suite

Feel free to start working on any part of the suite except the toilet as it will require several sponges and clothes. It is highly advised to start working on the larger pieces of furniture inside.

Doing so will allow you to take big chunks off of your overall completion and keep you from feeling demotivated. Be sure to scrub them thoroughly inside and out to cover all the bacteria.

Likewise, don’t forget to pour hot water down the drains after rinsing so that the holes remain unplugged. When you are working on the shower, don’t forget the shower head.

They can get dusty especially since they are hung high and are usually closer to the window. Cleaning the shower head is vital as you use it every day.

Whatever you use to clean your body should also be innately clean so please don’t forget.

Work on the toilet

The pivotal part of bathroom cleaning is cleansing the toilet. This fixture needs to be thoroughly cleansed as it is a haven for bacteria.

Use a cleaner to remove all those unsightly stains and mineral deposits that are forming on the toilet. Remember to flush regularly whilst brushing.

Flushing brings a strong powerful rinse into the mix that helps any dirt and bacteria move along. After cleaning the toilet, don’t forget to dump the toilet brush back in and flush it.

This step is necessary to rinse the toilet brush. Lastly, use a toilet fragrance liquid to wrap things up.

Be detail-oriented

The minute details are sometimes what keep us from having a sparkly clean bathroom. As such, be sure you take a closer look at the smaller items in the bathroom such as door handles, levers, and taps.

Chrome fixtures are known for their appeal and can really gleam when properly polished and maintained. Polish them well so as to revert them back to their new look.

Additionally, other common places that are overlooked include the radiator and the towel rail.

Wrap up the flooring

Once you are almost done with the fixtures, it’s time now to head to the floor. For best results, it is advised to sweep the floor first so as to remove any sediments and large objects that may hamper the scrubbing.

Afterward, scrub like there’s no tomorrow. Start on the far end moving towards the doors so as to avoid stepping over cleansed areas. While you are working towards the door, the far end should dry up first.

Last step

At the start of the endeavor, we moved out any movable fixtures. Now is the time to move them back in. Start with the large objects first so that you can designate floor space for them.

Prior to doing so, be sure you also wipe these clean so that they don’t stain the sparkly clean bathroom that you worked so hard on.

Finally, place floor mats at strategic locations so that there will be minimal foot contact thus minimizing dirty areas and slippage.
